A teenager has been arrested after Greater Manchester Police officers found £4,000 inside a car suspected of being cloned.

Officers from the Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit were on night patrol in Bolton on Friday 18 April, when a car was spotted that it's thought was un registered and being driven on false plates in Wigan Road.

Specially trained officers pursued the car after the driver didn't stop. The driver then tried to run off but was arrested soon after.

A man aged 18, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and money laundering. He remains in custody for questioning.

Inspector Shafiqur Malik of GMP’s Specialist Operations branch, said: “The arrest last night highlights the excellent work that goes on behind the scenes every day and night across the force.

“It showed a dedicated response by officers to apprehend the suspect and I hope this proves that we are successfully able to track, trace and detain those who are blighting our local communities.

“Specialist operations are deployed across the force, with hardworking and dedicated officers working day and night to keep people safe and reduce crime and we will continue our patrols and are determined to keep our communities safe using all the resources available to us which covers a broad range of specialised areas and techniques.”
