Suspended senior officer at GMP faces sexual harassment allegations
It was announced earlier this week that an officer had been suspended from the force
A senior police officer suspended by Greater Manchester Police is facing sexual harassment allegations.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it is considering a referral from the force about an unnamed high-ranking officer.
The police watchdog said in a statement: "We have received a conduct referral from Greater Manchester Police in relation to allegations of sexual harassment by a senior officer.
"We will now assess the available information to determine if any further action is required from us."
Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods, of GMP, earlier said the officer had been suspended.
He said: "Following an allegation of misconduct, a senior officer has been suspended from duty and referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for investigation into their standards of professional behaviour."
