Police investigating after dozens of doors were glued shut have arrested a man
A man has been arrested after dozens of front doors were glued shut in Rochdale. Between 7pm on Monday 24 October and 8am on Tuesday 25 October 2016 residents on Marlor Court and the surrounding streets in Heywood woke up to find the locks had been glued with super-glue. Police have identified a total of 64 victims so far. A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in police custody for questioning. Inspector Andrew Fern of GMP’s Rochdale Borough, said: “We are continuing to work closely with Rochdale Boroughwide Housing to make sure the impact on the residents of the area is minimised. “Gluing locks is extremely dangerous and has caused a huge amount of distress to the victims, who worry how they would escape their home in the event of a fire or other emergency. “I would like to thank those who have already contacted us but encourage those that haven’t to report any suspicions or information to us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8701 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
