Firefighters have been dealing with a serious fire in Stretford involving two commercial units full of vehicles and machinery.

Several crews were called to the scene on Bradley Lane last night at around 9pm.

People nearby urged to keep their windows and doors closed due to the amount of smoke.

Incident Commander Dave Minto had this update from the scene last night: "When the crews arrived there was a gentleman who was in the vicinity of the fire.

"The gentleman was escorted away to safety by the fire crews.

"We have had six fire engines and support vehicles fighting the fire.

"We've got two commercial industrial units, they're quite severely damaged by fire, something approximately 50 metres by 20 metres.

"Surrounding units are luckily not involved thanks to the hard work of crews."

He went on to say that an investigation into the cause would be carried out as is standard, but added that there were no "suspicious indicators".
