Teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following stabbing in Salford

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Salford.

At around 5:10pm last night (Tuesday 24 January 2023) officers were called to Salford Precinct, Hankinson Way. They found a man who had been stabbed in the neck.

The victim remains in hospital recieving treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

An 18-year-old was later arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that "over the coming days, there will be a heightened police presence in the area".

A Section 60 stop and search order was introduced in the area last night, covering the areas highlighted on the map, and will continue running throughout the day until this evening.

A spokesperson from the force said: "At this time, the investigation is still very much ongoing and police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or know any information, to come forwards and contact GMP directly on 0161 856 5235 or via 101, quoting log number 2422 of 24 January 2023.

"Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity – Crimestoppers – on 0800 555 111."
