A 9-year-old girl is in hospital with life changing injuries after being attacked by a dog in South Manchester.

At 6:40pm last night (Thursday 27 February) Greater Manchester Police were called to reports that a young girl had been attacked by a dog on playing fields running alongside Ashstead Road and Croft Road in the Brooklands area.

It’s believed that a large, black dog approached the young girl and attacked her.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, that are believed to be life-changing.

Police haven't found the dog yet - which described as large and black.

Additional officers have been deployed to the area to conduct searches and speak with the community.

GMP are urging any witnesses to get in touch.
