A close relative of a man stabbed in Leigh on Tuesday (03 December) has described her shock, saying she feels number.
Emergency services rushed to Siddow Common at around 18:50GMT, following reports a man had been injured.
A number of roads were closed off, and the man was taken to hospital.
Speaking to us, the relative said his life is hanging in the balance, with doctor's giving him a "50/50 chance".
The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said another relative received a phone call just after the stabbing, telling them to "get to the house".
She said she found neighbours applying pressure to the man's wounds, and used her own top to help stop the bleeding.
"I feel numb", the woman admitted. "I don't think I've processed it yet. I have cried a bit, but you just feel numb, don't you."
The man, in his 30s, remains in a critical condition, and has been given a number of blood transfusions as doctors fight to save his life.
Greater Manchester Police have arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder, and they remain in custody.
The attack is being treated as an isolated incident, although officers will remain in the area over the coming days.
