Investigation launched after 'shots fired at car' in Salford

Detectives have described the incident as a 'frightening' for residents

Detectives have launched an investigation after shots are believed to have fired at a car in Salford.

No-one was injured in the incident that happened some time before 4am on Friday 5 January at the junction of Langley Road South and Lissadel Street in Pendleton.

Nearby roads have been closed while forensic examinations take place.

Detective Inspector Michael Sharples, of Salford CID, said: "This will be a frightening incident for people in the area but we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.

"There have been no arrests so far and no-one was injured - there are detectives in the area carrying out further enquiries and identifying witnesses.

"There will also be extra visible patrols in the area today and over the coming days.

"Anyone who has any information or dashcam footage, or was in the area at the time, is urged to contact police - this type of behaviour won't be tolerated on the streets of Greater Manchester and we will track down the perpetrators."
