Police arrest man following sexual assault in Stockport
Detectives are asking witnesses to come forward
A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following an incident at an event in Church Road, Gatley.
At approximately 5.10pm on Sunday 2nd July, officers received a report that a man had inappropriately touched a female.
Within minutes, officers were on the scene and a 46-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He remains in police custody for questioning.
Inspector Martin Baker, from GMP’s Stockport district, said: “This is obviously a very concerning incident and we are working hard to establish all of the facts.
"Our officers were on the scene just minutes after receiving the 999 call; we always take a robust and urgent approach to reports of this nature and we are currently supporting all those involved.
“I would ask any witnesses to please get in touch with us, as this could aid our investigation.”
