A second man has been arrested after the disappearance of a 24-year-old woman from Tameside in January.

The 50-year old from Ashton-Under-Lyne is accused of assisting an offender.

Police have launched a murder investigation as they continue their search for Alisha Apostoloff-Boyarin.

She was last seen in Durham earlier in the year. Police suspect she may have come to serious harm.

A 59-year-old man from County Durham has been questioned on suspicion of her murder.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Andrew Naismith, said: "Our team of detectives are working around the clock to try and piece together what has happened to Alisha.

"We have followed a number of lines of enquiry so far which has resulted in two arrests and we feel that we are edging closer towards establishing the full circumstances.

"We have executed warrants at an address in County Durham this week, where we believe Alisha travelled to from Manchester.

"We subsequently arrested a second suspect on Tuesday (22 March) and he has since been released pending further enquiries.

"I'd like to appeal again for anyone who may have seen Alisha since January, or anyone who has any information at all about her disappearance, to please get in touch with police as soon as possible, as you may be able to help us find Alisha and bring some closure for her family."

Alisha's family are receiving specialist support.
