New research has found children at almost 300 schools in just 9 Manchester postcodes are learning in environments where the air pollution is higher than the World Health Organisation limit.

Schools across the borough have been taking action on Clean Air Day, closing roads around their grounds.

St Margarets Primary in Whalley Range is one, where volunteers have been marshalling the roads and keeping them clear for parents and pupils walking or cycling into school.

They'll be closing the roads again when parents come to pick up their children.
