Schoolboy fractures skull after falling from school roof in Saddleworth

A 16-year-old boy's been rushed to hospital after falling off a school roof in Saddleworth.

Police say the teenager climbed up onto the flat roof at Saddleworth School at about 9.50pm on the evening of Friday 17th February 2017.

He suffered a fractured skull, elbow, knee and wrist in the fall and was taken to the trauma unit at the Manchester Royal Infirmary where he's due to undergo surgery.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Writing on their Facebook Page, GMP Saddleorth and Lees said:

"We can not stress enough the seriousness of the risk with regards to climbing onto structures and roofs. We also have a number of derelict / empty mills across the Saddleworth area these buildings are old and as such the floors can be very weak leading to collapses.
