Police are investigating an armed robbery at a takeaway at Ellesmere Retail Park in Walkden, Salford.

The incident took place between 8:25pm and 8:35pm last night.

According to officers, the suspect arrived in a small black car before entering the takeaway where he produced what appeared to be a gun.

He fled the scene with a small amount of cash. The suspect was described as being around six feet tall and wearing a mask, a black hooded coat, black trousers, and trainers.

Detective Inspector Louise Haslam, from Swinton CID, said: “While this will be worrying and concerning, this type of incident is extremely rare in Greater Manchester.

"We will have extra officers in the area today and the next couple of days as we continue our investigation and provide a reassuring presence.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage to please contact us.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact officers.
