Manchester Ryanair flight plunges 34,000ft after a fire break out onboard
The plane was forced to make an emergency landing
A flight from Manchester to Faro plunged 34,000ft and was forced to make an emergency landing in France after reports of a fire on board.
The Ryanair plane was forced to land at Brest in Northern France around 45 minutes into the flight, with social media footage showing emergency services surrounding the plane on the runway.
The aircraft made a rapid descent from 41,000ft to 6,725ft in just seven minutes while flying over the English Channel.
Thomas Drié (@thomasdrie49) tweeted a video of the landed plane, with the caption: '737-800 Ryanair #FR4052 went down in emergency in brest due to a fire outside the aircraft, all passengers got out on a bus taken by the french police'.
He has since corrected his tweet, stating that the fire started inside the plane.
Flight FR4052 took off from Manchester yesterday (3rd January) at 6.33pm for Faro, southern Portugal, where it was expected to land at around 9.30pm.
After landing in Brest, the Ryanair operated Boeing 737-8AS was met on the runway by fire trucks
It's thought all passengers were safely evacuated and a replacement flight from Stansted took passengers to Portugal to finish the rest of the journey.
