Record breaking donations to Key 103's Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal
£3,040,129 has been donated by people from Greater Manchester.
A record breaking grand total raised by the Key 103 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal has been revealed on the side of the Beetham Tower.
The numbers appeared one by one on the south side of the building during Friday's rush hour revealing a total of £3,040,129 which will go to help 59,579 children across Greater Manchester.
Thanks to Hobs Repro and Cloud 23 at the Hilton Hotel for helping to display and reveal the total in such a brilliant way.
This December, in partnership with B&M, Key 103’s Cash For Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ once more became the UK’s biggest toy appeal, taking hugely generous donations from right across Greater Manchester, in aid of the one in four children who live in poverty.
Cask for Kids Charity Manager Michelle Williams said 'We are incredibly overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of Greater Manchester this year. It's been a tough year for the city with lots of charitable giving, and to get to the total that we have got to is outstanding. There will be tens of thousands of disadvantaged children who have a smile on their faces on Christmas morning, all because of the kindness of everyone who has donated. Thank you!'
The collective effort of the people of Greater Manchester has once again been admirable, and in a year where tragedy affected all of us, shows a character and spirit every one of us can be proud of.
9 year old Jacob Vorley from Ramsbottom was present for the reveal. We first met him after learning about his special letter to Santa. In it he said he didn’t mind if he received less presents this year – he’d rather more money and gifts be given to Greater Manchester’s sick and disadvantaged children!
Key 103 station director Mellissa Webster added “Each year we are touched and blown away by the generosity of the people of Greater Manchester and wonder how we will be able to sustain it. But we do every year going from strength to strength. The importance of a charity AND an event like Mission Christmas cannot be overstated and our thanks to everyone who everyone who got involved will never be enough."
