Homes evacuated in Salford after potential grenades found

A number of homes have been evacuated on a street in Salford as the bomb squad investigate potential grenades found inside a property.

Police have confirmed they were called to an address on Bridgewater Street in Worsley at about 11am this morning.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area, whilst explosive teams investigate.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Greater Manchester Police received a report at around 11am today (Wednesday 26 October 2022) regarding items of concern which are believed to be grenades at a property on Bridgewater Street, Worsley.

"After initial enquiries a cordon has now been put in place as a safety precaution by officers with a number of properties being evacuated and members of the public are asked to avoid the area whilst Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) ensure the scene is safe and secure."
