Police are appealing for information after a carjacking in Moston in which a woman and her baby were threatened with a hammer.
Shortly before 11pm on Monday 7 January 2019, a woman was sat in the driver’s seat of her Nissan Qashqai on Bradford court, just off Whitstable Road, when she was approached by a man.
The man- armed with a hammer- threatened the woman and forced her to hand over her keys. The woman’s 11-month-old baby was in a car seat in the back of the car, and the woman pleaded with the man to allow her to get to her son.
The mother was able to grab her baby from his car seat, before the offender drove off in her car in the direction of Lightbowne Road.
The offender is described as a white male, in his late teens or early twenties, around 6ft tall, and he was wearing a grey tracksuit.
Police Constable Jack Ginger, of GMP’s City Of Manchester borough, said: “This was a frightening experience for the woman, and she is deeply distressed by what happened to her and her baby.
“It is unacceptable that a woman and a young child should be put through such an ordeal, and we are determined to find the coward who is responsible for this.
