Police investigating Gorton shooting make two further arrests
The victim suffered life changing injuries after also being attacked with a machete
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over a shooting in Gorton.
It happened on the night of Monday 7th October on Hampden Crescent.
A 19 year old man was left with life changing injuries after being attacked with a machete and then shot at. He remains in hosptial.
Today (Thursday 17 October 2024), police arrested a man in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder.
This arrest takes the count up to six in total, with officers from our Major Incident Team securing a charge of attempted murder against a 16-year-old on Sunday 13 October 2024.
An 18-year-old remains on bail pending further enquiries.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Louise Edwards said:
“10 days have now passed since this incident took place and we have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible. The investigation is progressing quickly and today we have made two further arrests as we seek justice for the victim.
“Work is ongoing to recover firearms throughout Greater Manchester, with nearly 250 having been recovered in the last three years. The recoveries will have undoubtedly prevented other critical or fatal incidents."
