Pensioner dies after collision in Trafford

The victim, a man in his 70s, was involved in a collision with a van in Davyhulme on Saturday afternoon

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward, after an elderly man died following a collision in Trafford.

The victim, a man in his 70s, was driving a blue Toyota Aygo when it collided with a red Ford Transit close to the junction of Davyhulme Road and Pleasant Drive, shortly after 4pm on Saturday 24th November.

While being treated in an ambulance, the man fell ill and was taken to hospital.

Sadly, he passed away three days later.

The Ford Transit driver sustained no injuries in the collision.

Police are now continuing to appeal for information.

Police Constable Phil Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a very sad incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult moment.

“We’re attempting to build a clearer picture of the circumstances leading up to this collision so we can give the man’s family the answers they deserve.

“If you saw the collision, the vehicles prior to the incident, or have dashcam footage, please get in touch.”
