Pedestrian in serious condition after crash in Tameside

Greater Manchester Police say three men have since been bailed - pending further investigation

Three men have been arrested after a 44-year-old pedestrian was injured in a crash in Tameside earlier this week.

It happened on Hyde Road on Thursday evening (February 8, at around 6pm), with the woman involved in a crash on Hyde Road with a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene before being abandoned.

The vehicle was reported to have been travelling in the direction of Manchester City Centre at the time of the incident, and is believed to have turned onto Delahays Range - where it was then abandoned.

The victim's injuries are thought to be serious and life-threatening, and she remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Three men aged 24, 21 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of causing serious Injury by dangerous driving / aggravated taking without consent / theft of motor vehicle and perverting the course of justice.

They have since been bailed pending further investigation.

It is believed that the suspects had been travelling on Stockport Road, Denton before turning left onto A57 Manchester Road South entering Denton Island and onto Hyde Road towards the City Centre.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident - or may have dashcam or doorbell footage of the suspects movements prior to and following the collision - to please share it with Greater Manchester Police.
