Where to park for free this weekend
Free parking in zones three and four of Manchester is being extended until the end of January by Manchester City Council.
This comes as a follow up to a gesture made by the council where a weekend of free parking from December 29th was given to the public as a ‘thank you’ for tolerating roadworks throughout the city centre.
The roadworks are underway as part of ‘Project Grow,’ a £1bn upgrade of transport infrastructure in the city.
After a positive response to the act, which Kate Chappell, the council’s executive member for the environment described as being a ‘huge hit with shoppers,’ the offer is continuing throughout the city centre while NCP car parks also offer a deal of £6 for six hours in a joint arrangement with the council.
She added: “we’re keen to continue giving something back by offering free parking in selected parts of the city centre throughout the rest of January.”
Zones three and four includes roads to the south of Whitworth Street and West of Oxford Road, while all of Castlefield and areas around Picadilly station are also covered.
The offer will be apparent by stickers on parking ticket machines within the designated areas.
