Murder investigation launched in Warrington

Police have a launched a murder investigation after the death of a woman in Warrington.

They were sent to an Off Licence on Marsh House Lane at about 22:20 last night (Tuesday 20th April 2018), following a report of concerns for a man.

Officers were led toa house on St Elphins Close where they found the woman with injuries.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance but died.

Detective Inspector Kate Tomlinson, of Cheshire Police's Major Investigation Team, said:

“At this stage the incident appears to be isolated and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.

“A 54-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is assisting officers with their investigation.”

Formal identification of the woman has not yet taken place.
