Murder investigation into Stockport death stood down
Police say they've not found suspicious circumstances
A murder inquiry has been stood down by Greater Manchester Police, after a woman died in Stockport.
Emergency services were called around 1 am on Friday morning (01/12) to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman - with a 31-year-old pronounced dead.
Since then, a post-mortem has been complete, and the cause of death remains "unascertained".
Police tell us they've carried out extensive enquiries and are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A 36-year-old man, who had been arrested in connection with the death has since been released, with no further action taken.
Detective Inspector Chris Aunins of GMP Stockport CID sad: "I would like to reassure the public that a rigorous investigation is ongoing to determine exactly what caused this ladies death. I can however confirm it is no longer being treated as a murder investigation and further tests will be carried out."
