Two men arrested after man stabbed in the head in Manchester

Police say they were called to Yew Tree Road in Fallowfield just after 10am

Two men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the head in South Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police say they were called by colleagues at the North West Ambulance Service around 10.15am to a report of an injured male on Yew Tree Road, Manchester.

The man in his 20s was taken to hospital. His injuries are now not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men, aged 22 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. They remain remains in custody for questioning.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing and scene remains in place.

Detective Inspector Pete Morley of GMP's City of Manchester division, said:

"This was a serious assault that has left one man in hospital. Our thoughts are with him as he receives urgent medical attention.

"Our enquiries are in their initial stages but we do believe this to have been an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public. We currently have two males detained and in custody for questioning but we would appeal for anyone with information to come forward and assist us with our investigation."
