Student nurses and midwives at Salford University are being given the chance to deliver electronic babies as part of a new hi-tech simulation suite.

The suite offers students the chance to practice deliveries in several realistic settings, including hospitals and home births.

Midwives are on hand to offer support and there's even observation rooms featuring two-way mirrors where lecturers can recreate sounds and reactions during the delivery.

Plastic electronic mannequins known as 'sim mums' are used during the training which offers various scenarios to give students the best possible preparation.
