Manhunt underway after hit and run in Wythenshawe
Police are searching for the rider of a "chopper" style motorbike
Detectives are trying to trace the driver of a motorbike following a hit and run in Wythenshawe.
At 6pm on Sunday, 3rd September, police were called to Ferndown Road, to reports of a collision involving a man and a "chopper" style motorcycle.
The 41-year-old victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment but he has since been discharged.
The rider was seen fleeing the scene in the direction of Wythenshawe Road.
The man's described as white, aged between 40-50yrs, large build with a long beard and riding a “chopper” style bike with wide handlebars.
An investigation has been launched and police are now appealing for information.
Detective Constable Chris Clarke, of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “This is a serious set of circumstances, where a vehicle was used to assault the victim in what is believed to be an unproved attack.
“This happened in the early evening when there may have been people around who have seen something.
“If you were in the area around that time and saw a man matching this description or the motorbike, please contact us.
“A member of the public is believed to have set off in pursuit and we are particularly keen to speak to them as they may have vital information. We would also like to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 1700 of 03/09/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
