Students in Manchester tell us universities in the city now have a huge mountain to climb to rebuild their trust.

Hundreds of people tore down metal fencing that had been set up around student halls in Fallowfield last night.

Flares were set off and crowds cheered as the barriers were pulled down. One student told us that it's made a bad situation even worse

The university has apologised - insisting it never intended to prevent students coming or going and was in response to security concerns.

The university has confirmed the fencing will be taken away today.
