Thousands of people of all ages will be gathering in Manchester for Armed Forces Day.
The event comes 100 years after the end of the First World War and aims to thank veterans, servicemen and women for their bravery.
A parade will pass through St Peter's Square, complete with a ceremonial firing of guns.
There will also be a climbing wall, face paint, real military kit to try on and visitors will also be able to sit in a RAF jet fighter cockpit.
Lord Mayor for Manchester, June Hitchin said:
"It’s an occasion to celebrate the outstanding contribution made by the Armed Forces community.
"It’s a real privilege to be able to honour their tireless work, dedication and professionalism on behalf of the city.”
Veterans and service men and women will also receive free transport into Manchester, free parking and discounts to museums and art galleries as a thank you.
June Hitchin added this is a perfect way to say thank you to the armed forces helping tackle the Moorland fires in Manchester.
"People think that when you are in the armed forces you are only going out to war and conflict, and they can forget that they help with floods, fires and disasters and day-to-day needs.
"For them to go out onto the moors shows how they are such a vital service for us to have always and that they are close to home.
"So, this is about saying thank you for being there at our time of need."
Armed Forces Day will run from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 30th June.
