Manchester campaigners call for booze tax increase

Healthier Futures say cheap cider needs to be priced out of youngsters' reach.

A campaign group based in Manchester have called for the government to increase tax on cheap booze as figures reveal almost 67,000 people were admitted to hospital with alcohol related issues during the past year.

As part of alcohol awareness week Healthier Futures want the government to act as statistics show treating alcohol related issues is costing the tax payer over £1.16 billion per year in Greater Manchester alone.
