Bus 'safety summit' to be held in Manchester following 'serious' crash
17 people were injured in the collision on Saturday (09 November)
A bus 'safety summit' is to be held in Manchester following a crash involving two double-deckers on Saturday (09 November).
Transport for Greater Manchester has told Hits Radio it has asked operators to attend the meeting on Friday 22 November.
17 people were injured in the collision between the two buses near the junction of Rochdale Road and Livesey Street in the Collyhurst area.
None of the injuries are thought to be serious.
TfGM has also told the operator of the buses involved, believed to be Stagecoach, to carry out an urgent investigation into the crash.
The transport body is also carrying out a broader safety review of Greater Manchester's bus network, known as the Bee Network.
TfGM’s Chief Network Officer, Danny Vaughan, said: “The safety of everyone who uses or works on the Bee Network is our number one priority.
"Saturday’s collision was a serious one and our thoughts remain with all involved, in particular those who were injured.
“We have asked the operator to carry out an urgent investigation.
"Once we understand exactly what happened we will work with them to see what steps are needed to ensure our networks continue to operate as safely as possible."
