Man suffers head injury after Manchester disturbance

25 year old arrested on suspicion of assault

A man's had to have treatment for a head injury after a reported disturbance in Manchester.

Police were called to Mersey Bank Avenue in Chorlton at around 8.40am on Satuday (9th May).

The 49 year old was taken to hospital and a man aged 25 was arrested at the scene on suspicion of Section 18 Assault.

GMP's DI Chris Maddocks said, "This was a violent disturbance which has resulted in a man being injured.

"I would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident which is being investigated thoroughly. Residents in the area may see increased police patrols in the area while our officers complete their enquires.

"This incident happened in broad daylight and I am confident that there may be a number of witnesses who may be able assist officers with their investigation. If you have any information at all, please get in contact with police."
