Man seriously injured after paragliding accident in Salford

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after crashing to the ground in a paragliding accident in Salford.

An investigation has been launched after the 55-year-old came down at City Airport in Barton yesterday morning (21st May).

Emergency services were were called shortly after 8am but the cause of the accident remains unclear.

Sergeant Lee Westhead from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are with the man and his family at this time.

“My officers are working hard to establish the circumstances of this incident. If you saw what happened or have any information, then I would ask that you contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit as soon as possible.

“I am particularly keen to speak to individuals with photographs or videos of the incident or the aftermath.”
