Man fighting for his life after stabbing in Wigan

A woman was also assaulted during the incident in Pemberton.

A 29-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed in the early hours of the morning in Wigan.

Police were called to Norley Hall Avenue in Pemberton at 1.30am on Friday 4th May where they also found a 33-year-old woman who'd been assaulted.

Both were admitted to hospital. The woman was treated for minor injuries but the man is still in a critical condition.

Police have launched an investigation and would like to hear from anyone who may have any information about the attacks.

Detective Chief inspector Clare Devlin from GMP’s Wigan borough said: “My thoughts are with the victim as he is treated in hospital for his injuries, I wish him a speedy recovery.

“I would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or may know anyone who was involved.

“I would like to reassure the victims and the community that we are doing all that we can to find those responsible.

“We have extra patrols in the area and anyone with any questions, concerns or information should speak to those officers.”
