Man drives himself to hospital after being shot in Bury
Police patrols stepped up
A man's been shot during this morning's rush hour and school run in Bury.
Shortly before 8:50am on Monday 18 June 2018, police were called to Harris Drive, Unsworth to reports of a firearms discharge.
A short time later a man in his 30s presented himself at hospital with injuries to his upper body.
He remains in a serious condition.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and there are increased police patrols in the nearby area.
Chief Inspector Phil Spurgeon, of GMP’s Bury borough, said: “I understand that this incident will cause concern in the community but I want to reassure local people that we are responding as a matter of priority.
“We currently have police at the scene and in the nearby area carrying out enquiries and searching for the people responsible for this shocking incident.
“Our investigation is in its early stages and we have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances of exactly what has happened but I would ask that anybody with information contacts police immediately.”
