Two arrested after man dies in Salford

A man and a woman are in custody after a 57-year-old man fell from a balcony

A man and a woman have been arrested after the death of a man who fell from a balcony in Salford.

The man, who hasn’t been named and is 57, was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Police say the incident happened around 8.40pm on Sunday, 11 August, and that a man and a woman remain in police custody in connection with his death.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to reports that a man had fallen from a balcony on the fourth floor on Black Friar Court in Salford.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 57-year-old man was sadly pronounced deceased at hospital.”

Detective Inspector David Ogden from our Salford district said: "We know the community will be concerned about this tragic death, and we share their concern.

"We're appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to us. Please don't assume that what you know is already known to us. The smallest piece of information may be crucial to our investigation and towards getting answers for this man's family."
