Man dies as air ambulance called to section of busy Manchester motorway

A man has died after police were called to a section of a busy motorway in Greater Manchester.

Traffic was held on the M6 in both directions between junction 25 (Ashton) and junction 26 (M58) at around 10:15GMT on Wednesday (29 October).

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to a concern for welfare report, and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are now taking place, with an air ambulance seen landing close to the motorway.

National Highways has warned drivers to expect delays, with diversions in place.
