Man dies in a house fire in Tameside
The devastating fire happened on Kipling Avenue in Droylsden
Police and fire investigators are working to establish a timeline of events leading up to the house fire in Droylsden in the early hours of this morning.
Shortly after 12am this morning (Wednesday 10 April 2024), police were called by the fire service to reports of a fire at an address on Kipling Avenue, Droylsden.
Emergency services attended and a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and a child were also present in the house at the time of the fire and don't have any injuries.
A scene remains in place on Kipling Avenue whilst officers, alongside fore investigators and crime scene investigators, work to determine the circumstances around this tragic incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker of said it's a "devastating and shocking incident":
"A man has sadly lost his life and that remains in our thoughts as we start to progress our investigations into the circumstances of the fire.
"I would like to reassure the public that this is being treated as an isolated incident and the public will notice an increase of police officers and staff in the area over the coming days as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
