Man dies after being hit by car in Wythenshawe

Four people - including two children were struck by the car

A man who was hit by a car in Wythenshawe along with his daughter and two other people has sadly died.

Around 4.45pm last Tuesday police were called to Woodhouse Lane at the junction of Hollyhedge Road, Benchill, Wythenshawe following to reports of a collision.

Officers attended and established that a black Kia Picanto had been involved in a collision with a 27 year-old woman and her two-year-old son, who was in a pushchair, and a 47-year-old man and his nine-year-old daughter.

Ambulances attended and the man was taken to hospital where he sadly died on Thursday 16th March.

The man’s daughter sustained some minor cuts and bruises.

The woman was treated for a broken wrist and her son was uninjured.

Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the collision. No arrests have been made.

Constable Ed Lister of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "My thoughts are with the man and his family. I can’t begin to imagine what they are going through. Our specialist officers are helping them through this incredibly difficult time.

Our investigation is still ongoing and we are still appealing for witnesses. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage showing the collision."
