Ex-military man wants to break record for most pull-ups in 24 hours

A man from Manchester is attempting to break a Guinness World Record on Saturday to raise money for charity.

Danny Watson wants to break the world record for the maximum repetition of pull ups in 24 hours. The record is currently set at 7306 but Danny is going for 7700.

Danny’s gruelling regime leading up to the challenge has consisted of 8 hour pull ups in his garden and 6 hour visits to the gym, whilst he also juggles attending university.

This isn’t Danny’s first attempt at breaking a world record though. In 2008, he successfully broke one with his best friend but this is his first “solo mission”.

Danny said that his military background had definitely mentally and physically prepared him for Saturday and that the support he has received has been amazing.

The money being raised is for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association UK which came to his attention whilst learning about it during his degree in Dentistry at Manchester University.

The event is open to the public at Reebok Cross Fit 3D, in Trafford Park and if you wish to donate, you can find all the information on Danny’s Just Giving page.
