Man arrested over the murder of Eileen Blane in Stretford
She was robbed in her own home and died a few weeks after the attack
Police investigating the murder of Eileen Blane from Stretford have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
A man forced his way into the 87 year old's home on Castleton Avenue in February last year.
He beat her up relentlessly before ripping her wedding ring from her finger and stealing a small amount of cash.
Eileen suffered broken ribs, a fractured vertebrae and further internal injuries and bruises.
She was discharged from hospital well over a month later, but was sadly found dead at home on Saturday 1 April 2017.
A 29-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains under investigation.

Detective Inspector John Mulvihill from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “We have made one arrest in connection with this investigation but I want to stress our enquiries do not stop here.
“We are still appealing for information from the public and I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious on that day to please contact us.
“The £50,000 reward still stands for anyone with information that leads to the successful conviction of the offender.”
