Tenth teenager arrested on suspicion of murdering boy, 16, in Stretford

A tenth teenager has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 16-year-old Kennie Carter in Stretford.

Kennie died in hospital on Saturday 22 January after suffering a fatal wound to the chest following a reported stabbing.

Six teenagers - aged between 14 and 17 - have already been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on bail with conditions after being interviewed by investigators from our Major Incident Team.

Three other teenage boys who were arrested have since been eliminated from the inquiry.

Yesterday (Monday 7 February) morning, a tenth murder arrest was made - a 13-year-old boy from the Stretford area whom was questioned by detectives and since released on bail.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Kennie's family are being kept updated on the investigation through specialist officers who continue to support them.

"So far, investigators from our Major Incident Team have spoken to 50 people, collated over 100 hours of CCTV and executed 10 warrants.

"We're particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving through Moss Road, Thirlmere Road, and Victoria Road between 6-7pm that night and urge them to check their dash-cam.

"Any footage or images from the night should be submitted to our online portal here: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/06GMP22S43-PO1

"Anyone can contact us with information - no matter how insignificant it may seem - on 0161 856 9908 quoting incident 2529 of 24/01/2022.

"Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"We appeal for people to do the right thing, look out for each other and bin the knife; you won't be judged but you might just safe a life."
