Hyper Japan Manchester 2025: Japan’s Biggest Party Hits the North
From 14th to 16th November 2025, Manchester Central Convention Complex was taken over by the UK’s biggest celebration of Japanese culture - HYPER JAPAN Manchester.
HYPER JAPAN finally landed in Manchester for the very first time, the energy was next-level. HYPER JAPAN didn’t just show up - it exploded across three full days, bringing anime, J-pop, fashion, food, gaming and all things Japan under one roof.
What Went Down: Highlights from the Weekend
The main stage was absolutely buzzing, with live performances that mixed pop-culture flair and traditional Japanese acts.
Big names rocked up - including Yoh Kamiyama, Aya Hirano, and Miyuna — giving fans really special moments.
It wasn’t just shows though: there were traditional performances too, from Taiko drumming, Koto playing, to bamboo-flute (Shakuhachi) sets.
Plus, cosplayers got their moment with both a Cosplay Masquerade and a Community Masquerade - literal cosplay goals.
Culture, Style & Street Food Vibes
Hyper Japan Manchester wasn’t just about watching - it was about experiencing. Over 180 exhibitors filled the “HYPER Market” with everything from anime merch to handmade fashion and traditional crafts.
Foodies were in heaven: ramen, yakitori, onigiri, mochi, matcha sweets - it was all there. They even brought in the Sake Experience, where people could sample a range of sake and Japanese liqueurs, chat with brewers, and vote for their favourites.
Why This Was a Big Deal for Manchester
This was the first time HYPER JAPAN had come to the North of England. That’s massive - it meant that fans who’d normally have to travel to London could now tap into the full power of Japanese pop-culture, right in their own city.
For Manchester itself, it was a statement: this city can host world-class, culturally rich events at scale.
The Takeaway
When it wrapped up on 16th November 2025, HYPER JAPAN Manchester left people buzzing. It felt like more than just a weekend - it was a cultural celebration, a meeting point for creators, fans, and food lovers.
If you missed it, don’t sleep next time: this was only the beginning.
