People from all backgrounds across Greater Manchester have taken time to pay tribute to Her late Majesty the Queen, following her sad death aged 96.
Yesterday evening Buckingham Palace released a statement which said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
Since the news of Her Majesty's passing, hundreds of figures from across Greater Manchester have paid tribute to the late Queen.
The region's mayor, Andy Burnham said: "On behalf of everyone in Greater Manchester, I wish to convey our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.
"Queen Elizabeth II has been an ever-present in our lives. Our sense of loss is profound because she gave us all so much. As the longest reigning monarch in the history of the United Kingdom, she gave our communities and our country the greatest possible service and guidance. For that, and for her exceptional life, we give thanks."
A similar tribute was paid by Manchester City Council, which also announced that the flag on Manchester Central Library will be flown at half mast over the next 10 days.
Greater Manchester Police paid tribute to Her Majesty, saying: "The news that the long and dutiful reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is over has inspired in us all an overwhelming sense of profound sadness.
"Her Majesty served our country and the Commonwealth with enourmous distinction and unparalleled dedication. Her Majesty embodied so much that we all inspire to be and, on behalf of Greater Manchester Police, I offer sincere condolences to the Royal Family."
The passing of Queen Elizabeth II was also marked by the sporting world, including last night at Manchester United's home match in the Europa League.
A minute's silence was held at Old Trafford with both players and fans standing to pay tribute to the life of Her Majesty.
Manchester United also paid their own personal tribute to the late Queen: "Manchester United shares the sorrow of the entire nation following the announcement from Buckingham Palace..."
Manchester City also paid tribute to Her Majesty saying her "dedication and service has been exemplary". The club's post on social media also included an old picture of the Queen presenting the 1966 world cup to the England team.
