Detectives investigating the death of a man in a north Manchester flat on Sunday are no longer treating it as suspicious.

Officers were called to Graver Lane at 12.15pm on 30 October by North West Ambulance Service to a report of concern for the welfare of a man.

Sadly, the man – believed to be aged in his 40s – died a short time later, and formal identification has not yet taken place.

A post-mortem on Monday (31 October) afternoon confirmed that there aren’t believed to be any suspicious circumstances around the man’s death.

A man who was arrested at the scene was questioned by detectives and has since been released with no further action to be taken against him.

Investigators are continuing to work out the circumstances around the man’s death as part of a file that is currently being prepared for the coroner.

Detective Inspector Rob Kennedy, from Greater Manchester Police, said: “We’ve been keeping an open mind and following all available lines of enquiry ever since the man’s tragic passing on Sunday afternoon, which we are no longer treating as suspicious given the findings of the pathologist.

“Our priority is to inform the man’s family who don’t live in the UK, and every effort is being made to contact them so that they can be given the necessary support and space to grieve their loss.

“We’re doing all the work we can to prepare a file for the coroner to hopefully provide some answers as to how this sad event has occurred, and we still are welcoming any information via LiveChat or by calling 101 quoting incident 1654 of 30/10/2022 to help us with this work.”
