Greater Manchester Police have issued a Section 35, dispersal order, in areas of Stockport following a large number of youths gathering at Stockport Bus Interchange.

Four youths have been arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

People are advised to comply with the dispersal order, and anyone with information related to recent incidents are encouraged to contact the local authorities.

On a Facebook post, GMP Stockport said: "A Dispersal Order is in place within the area shown on the map (St Petersgate, Merseyway Shopping Centre, Redrock, bordering Great Egerton Street and George Street, Grand Central, Stockport Interchange Bus Station and Wellington Street in Stockport), between 7:55pm on 4 May 2024 and 7:55pm on 6 May 2024.

"Where the dispersal order is in place, a Police Constable (PC) or Police Community Support Office (PCSO) can direct a person, who is in a public place in the locality, to leave the area and not return for the time specified.

"The dispersal order comes after an incident yesterday evening (4 May 2024), where a large number of youths gathered at Stockport Bus Interchange, with four arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

"The dispersal order has been brought in to help police address concerns around the behaviour of a small group of individuals. It gives officers temporary extended powers to reduce anti-social behaviour and prevent disruption to the public."
