Four arrested over Bolton crash which left four men dead
Three teenagers and a taxi driver died in the collision last month

Four people have been arrested in Bolton this morning as part of an ongoing police investigation into a fatal road traffic collision that claimed four lives last month.
Simultaneous warrants were carried out in Ladybridge and Bolton town centre, involving officers from Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and Trading Standards. The raids led to the arrests of:
A 42-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man on suspicion of fraud offences
A 22-year-old man on suspicion of handling stolen goods
An 18-year-old man on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking
All four remain in police custody.
The arrests are linked to a crash which occurred on Wigan Road, Bolton, at around 12:45am on Sunday 11th January 2026.
A red Seat Leon collided with a Citroen C4 Picasso, resulting in the deaths of four men – the driver and two passengers of the Seat, and the driver of the Citroen.
Five other passengers from both vehicles were hospitalised. One woman, who had suffered life-threatening injuries, is now reported to be in a stable condition.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detective Inspector Andrew Page, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“Our investigation into this tragic incident is progressing and has led to four arrests from two warrants in Bolton this morning.
“We have undertaken significant prevention activity across Bolton, with local PCSOs on the streets to reassure the community and they are on hand to answer any queries members of the public may have.
“We are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone who saw the vehicle driving before the collision, witnessed the incident itself, or has dashcam/CCTV footage of the incident can share it with us.
