Former Olympic Cyclist supports Caitlin's Campaign
Chris Boardman is a huge advocate for road safety
Olympic Gold medal cyclist Chris Boardman is supporting Caitlin's Campaign by joining calls for the Government to introduce a Graduated Driving Licence.
Since retirement he has become a campaigner for safe cycling and is currently Greater Manchester’s commissioner for walking and cycling.
In July 2016 his mother Carol Boardman was killed after she was run over by a truck after falling off her bike on a road in Wales. The driver had been using his mobile behind the wheel and later admitted causing death by careless driving.
We contacted Chris about our calls for a Graduated Driving License. After hearing about Caitlin's death he said:
"I'm a great believer that driving is a privilege not a right. Once you've passed your test it doesn't mean that you are perfectly competant to drive, so Caitlin's Campaign for a Graduated Driving License, which works very well in other countries, is something I'm very much behind.
