Firefighters deal with 'significant' flat fire in Warrington

Fire fighters are at the scene of a 'significant' blaze in a block of flats on Marsh House Lane in Warrington.
A number of 999 calls were made just after 5pm (Monday 2nd June), with reports of a fire in the stairwell of flats on Marsh House Lane.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service says crews have rescued a number of people from the upper floors of the four-storey building.
Fire engines from Warrington, Birchwood, Lymm, Knutsford, Penketh, Alsager and Widnes plus the aerial ladder platforms from Lymm and Chester. They are being support by a number of appliances from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service stated:
"Shortly after 17:20 North West Fire Control received multiple reports of a fire in the stairwell of flats on Marsh House Lane.
"Crews wearing breathing apparatus have been deployed to tackle the fire. Please avoid the area if you are able to do so.
"A number of people have been rescued from dwellings on the upper storeys of the four-storey building."
