Fire destroys Leigh primary school

A Leigh primary school is closed and police are investigating after a fire ripped through a main building on Sunday morning, destroying it.
Fire crews were called to Westleigh Methodist Primary at 10.50am on Sunday morning.
The fire had completely engulfed the main hall of the school - local residents said the building affected was classrooms.
Four engines were called out to deal with the fire. It took four hours to get in under control and a police cordon shut down the road for most of the morning.
On the school's official Facebook Page, a statement said they were 'deeply saddened' and 'devastated by what had happened.
They confirmed the school would be closed on Monday morning.
