Devon was pronounced dead at the scene on Rowrah Crescent, Langley Estate, shortly before midday on Tuesday 22nd July 2025. Emergency services were called to the incident at around 11:55am, but despite their best efforts, Devon could not be saved.
A 59-year-old man was arrested at the time on suspicion of murder, and Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that Terrence King, 58, of Castlerigg Drive, Middleton, has now been charged with murder. He is due to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday 28th July.
Another 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft. Police have said they are also investigating a reported theft in the lead-up to the crash.
“He wasn’t a show-off kid – he kept himself to himself”
In a heartfelt statement, Devon’s family remembered him as a vibrant, loving, and respectful young man who brought light to those around him.
“Devon was an outgoing, bubbly person who always kept himself motivated even when he didn't want to be. Devon loved everyone that loved him and showed respect to everyone that respected him.
“He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and only wanted the best for everyone around him. When he would love, he would love really hard. He wasn't a show-off kid and kept himself to himself.
“We as a family are grateful for the tributes being made to Devon and would like to thank the local communities for their support; from both those who knew Devon and those who didn’t. We want peace and to remember Devon calmly, surrounded by his loved ones.
“This has shocked the whole family. It was a tragic incident that should never have happened that we don’t want to tarnish Devon’s legacy.”
